Expanding Your Horizons is an internationally conducted workshop style career conference for middle and high school students and usually held in the spring or fall. These annually held conferences bring together thousands of girls to get a taste of professional women's jobs in areas of interest in the mathematics, science and technology fields. The workshop days are organized a bit different for the middle school and the high school girls but the general idea is for girls to choose a set number of workshops to attend and then to experience hands on activities that each career woman brings from her work day to EYH to share.

AAUW branches across America have been facilitating and sponsoring EYH conferences for almost 40 years. This is our opportunity to provide equitable opportunities for girls led by women. With the generous help of Bellevue College, the Issaquah, Lake Washington and Kirkland-Redmond branches of AAUW, and Intellectual Ventures, our local conferences have a great track record of success (30 years), repeat attendees, workshop presenters that attended EYH themselves, as girls, and much community publicity.

AAUW members are the engine that drives these conferences. We recruit and train the women that run the workshops. We prepare, distribute and process the conference registrations. We recruit speakers for a parents' program. We prepare materials for girls, parents and presenters that are handed out on the day of the conference. We work with Bellevue College to prepare the rooms and the equipment. On the day of the conference we help with the workshops, direct traffic (both cars and girls) and do whatever needs to be done.
